Buddy Club
Buddy club gives students opportunities to "buddy up" with other students on various outings throughout the year. Students also have the benefit of having a role model and peer mentor to help facilitate positive interaction within the student's peer population. The club meets twice a month and plans activities for the month. Many of our outings revolve around service projects such as raising money for organizations. In addition to doing activities we work on communicating information about changing school and community climate to one of respect for all individual differences and abilities.

GMS Drama Club is an introduction to the High School Theatre program for GMS students through the production of a play in the Spring of each year. Participation is open to all GMS students and is determined by auditions in late March. Rehearsals are held after school Mon-Thurs in the High School Auditorium during the month of April, with two performances, one for all GMS students and the other for parents, typically the first Friday in May. The activity is organized by the High School Theatre Director and involves a significant level of participation by High School Theatre Students who serve as mentors for the GMS students in the show.

GMS Student Council
GMS Student Council, a prominent student government organization, gives students a voice in determining school activities and environment. Student Council is modeled on our representative form of government and is intended to promote leadership skills. It helps promote activities for the entire student body at Greendale Middle School and upholds the Panther P.R.I.D.E. motto. Being a member of student council is both an honor and a challenge. Members organize school dances, philanthropic fundraisers or events, teacher appreciation honors, in addition to attending council meetings and committee meetings.

To join, a student must fill out an application form and three teacher recommendation forms. This process is done in the spring for the upcoming school year.

To be eligible, representatives must be able to attend council meetings at alternating times during the school day, once per month. All members must uphold at least a 2.0 grade point average and always display high moral standards.

Student Council is a great experience for any hard working, creative, fun-loving student who can handle responsibility.

GMS Yearbook Club
The GMS Yearbook Club will have students work as a team to make yearbook decisions, such as the book’s theme, cover design, font choices, and page layouts. They will have the opportunity to submit photographs of school events and create pages that incorporate both graphics and stories. Students will need to show initiative, responsibility and trustworthiness to be successful in this activity. Students will strengthen skills in proofreading, computer generated design, digital photography, and working with others when producing the yearbook. Yearbook meetings will be held one day a week after school, but students are expected to attend additional meetings and work at home if needed so all deadlines are met. Due to the demand of this activity it is reserved for 8th grade students. Any 8th grade student can apply to be on the yearbook staff in September and will be chosen by the quality of the application as well as teacher recommendations. This activity runs weekly from October through March, with one additional meeting in May to view, label and sort the yearbooks.

Intramural Boys’ and Girls’ Volleyball
This coed activity, open to all MS students, is a fun, learning league with less emphasis on competition. No previous experience is necessary, only a willingness to learn and a commitment to play each time their team is scheduled. It is important to be there, so there is a complete team. Teams may be comprised of same grade OR multi-grade students, and coed or single gender. The games will be scheduled during most Mondays in November thru February with a pizza party at the end. Games begin either at 3:10 p.m., 3:45 p.m., or 4:20 p.m.. The teams will rotate. If your child needs to wait after school until the later game, they are able to do homework in the MPR. Some students do leave the building and go to the village. Please be aware of that possibility and make sure your child knows your expectations. All participants need to be back in the building in time for their game. Students may leave after their match is completed.

Your child must have an activity card to participate in this activity. These were purchased at registration, but can be purchased in the office at anytime during the year. If you have any questions, please contact me. Signups will begin in mid-October. Team signup forms and individual permission slips will be posted on the GMS website and on the student activity bulletin board. We will have an organizational meeting with all players on Monday, October 29 from 2:45-3:00 p.m. in the MPR. A final schedule will be handed out at this time. A schedule will also be posted on the school’s website.

Intramural volleyball is a good way to meet new friends, get some exercise, and be involved. We hope to have your child participate.
