First grade geologists discovering rocks
Dear Highland View Parents/Guardians:
As we move into November, please be sure to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher. All teachers will be contacting families with regard to their conference schedule. We look to make this as family friendly as possible as we share information about student progress.
Spotlight on Learning by Mrs. Weber
First grade students have been learning about rocks in our science unit: Pebbles, Sand and Silt. As geologists, we are sorting and grouping rocks by size, color and shape. We have taken two trips to the “geologist field” at school to find rocks and to notice rocks in use. Connecting their learning across the curriculum, they also made tiles from rock in Art class. These young geologists are finding out so much and are really anxious to share all they know. If you need an expert in the field, just ask a first grader!
Important News…

Future groups are as follows: Developing Friendships, Changing Families (Separation/Divorce), Study Skills and Grief/Loss.
Families will receive information and an order form for the fall fundraiser on October 31. The PTO has decided to offer families the opportunity to purchase items with their child’s artwork. All order forms will need to be returned by November 7 to ensure delivery before Winter Break. Thank you to Kendra Bradford for organizing this for our school. Our next PTO meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8 in the Highland View library.
