This Week at College Park: March 16

Good Afternoon College Park Families,

Our beautiful and unexpected weather this week gave us new energy! We did find some time for recess in between our learning activities this week, so we could enjoy the warm temperatures and sunshine. The students have been happy to be outside and moving during recess times. As we know our weather can change quickly so be sure to keep sending jackets and other cold weather items when needed!

Summer School
Summer school information can be easily accessed through our website. There is a summer school link on the school homepage or you can click here.

Be sure to sign up promptly since space is limited. If we see a high demand for classes early in the sign up, we may be able to bring in additional teachers, but will be unable to do so if the overload is not known until the end of the sign up period. Parents will receive a printed schedule of their child’s classes in June, prior to the end of the school year. Be watching for the schedules, as they will have your school and room assignments listed. There was a slight error on the original sign up form for students entering fourth grade in the fall. We have re-posted the correct form.

If you have any questions regarding the elementary summer school program feel free to contact Kerry Owens-Bur at 414-423-2851, or kerry.owens-bur@greendale.k12.wi.us.

Save the Date – Museum Night
May 2 has been chosen as our first annual College Park Museum Night. The evening will give students the opportunity to serve as docents, explaining in detail their exhibits. You will not want to miss the chance to tour all of our grade levels and view the ways our students are “Investing in Their Future” through learning opportunities. Keep watching for more information.

Second Grade Testing
Students in second grade will be taking part in standardized testing the week of March 26. Parents will be receiving a more detailed schedule in the next week. The tests in second grade help our school and district measure student growth and progress during their primary learning experience.

11th Annual Empty Bowls TOMORROW
The eleventh annual Empty Bowls fundraiser will be held at Greendale High School on Saturday, March 17 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. For a donation of $10, guests will enjoy a meal of homemade soup and fresh bread served in a handmade ceramic bowl, which may be taken home as a reminder of hunger in the community. Proceeds of the event will benefit the Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee. Tickets are available at the main office of each school and the Greendale Park & Recreation office. For a ticket form and more information, please click here.

Greendale Winter Market
The Greendale Park and Recreation Department will host the next Greendale Winter Market on Saturday, March 17 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Greendale Village Education Center, 5680 Board Street.
