This Week at College Park: March 2

Good Afternoon College Park Families,

We are anxiously awaiting the start of our Annual PTO Dinner and Raffle this evening! It is sure to be an exciting night and a great way to support student activities at College Park. Thanks to the many parents and staff members who collaborated to make this evening a success. We hope to see you there!

TOMORROW: Nourish - Mind, Body and Environment Expo
The Greendale Schools Nourish - Mind, Body and Environment Expo will take place on Saturday, March 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Greendale High School. This family friendly event will feature vendors, resource booths, exhibits, demonstrations and other activities related to living a healthy and environmentally-friendly lifestyle. Admission is free and the event is open to the public. The keynote speaker will be author and registered nurse Dr. John D. Shier RN, Ph.D. For more information, please click here.

Lunchroom Expectations
We are working to set clear expectations in our lunchroom to help students find the time to have a relaxing and enjoyable lunch. We have worked with students on common expectations. In the cafeteria we: walk facing forward with self control, talk to the friends at our table using a “peaceful voice,” only touch or eat the food we purchased or brought to school, raise our hands for help and use the last few minutes of lunch to quietly finish our meals before we go out for recess. We are hopeful the consistent expectations will help students relax, enjoy conversation with their friends and have time to finish their lunches.

Greendale Board of Education Approves 2012-13 School Calendar
The Greendale School District Board of Education has unanimously approved modifications to the 2012-13 School Calendar. The updated calendar is more family-friendly and eliminates all school half days with the exception of the last day of school on June 14, 2013. The calendar also organizes for all days off to connect to a weekend, making scheduling and arranging for childcare easier for parents. To view the 2012-13 School Calendar, please click here.

Report Cards and WKCE Scores
Students will be brining home their report cards this afternoon. Students in grades three, four and five will also have their WKCE results included. Teachers will be able to answer questions you may have during conferences next week.

Parent Conferences
We have scheduled conference dates on March 8 and 9. Students will not have school on Friday, March 9. Teachers have contacted families regarding meetings using Sign-up Genius, an on-line scheduling tool. We have also worked to hold conferences with families at appropriate times during the year when needs arise. Due to this, not all families will need to hold a conference during the scheduled times. If you have not had a chance to discuss your child’s progress with his/her teacher or scheduled a conference time, please contact the teacher directly.

Charity Shopping Day at Southridge Macy's
On Saturday, March 10, Macy's will host a Charity Shopping Day from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Southridge Mall as a way to help local non-profit organizations raise funds. This is a great opportunity to help Macy's have a successful grand opening in our community and help the Greendale Chamber raise funds for the Chamber Scholarship and other community programs. Tickets are available at the Greendale Park & Recreation office for $5 and the Greendale Chamber of Commerce gets to keep 100% of the proceeds. With the ticket, shoppers will receive $10 off on one purchase of $25 or more on March 10.
