This Week at College Park: November 4
November 04, 2011 | Posted by Kerry Owens-Bur

Students in grades three through five are enjoying the opportunity to discuss books with community volunteers during our "Lunch Bunch Book Club."
Good Afternoon College Park Families,
Many of our third and fourth grade students enjoyed an opportunity to work with community volunteers to discuss books during their “Lunch Bunch Book Club” this week. Our community reading program, which began as a way to support our early readers in first grade, has grown! This year many volunteers are supporting second grade students as well as our first graders. In addition, students in grades three, four and five, now have the opportunity to take part in the lunch hour book clubs. It is great to welcome so many of our community members into our schools as they give their time, energy and experience to our students!
If you, or someone you know, might like to be involved please contact us!
Our Student Council is again partnering with the American Red Cross to offer a blood drive at College Park. This year’s blood drive will be Monday November 14th from 2-6 p.m. Appointments may be scheduled on line at redcrossblood.org. Our blood drive event number is 4233. If you are unable to schedule on line please call our main office 423-2850. Students who sponsor an adult are eligible for a recognition gift from the Red Cross. The Pint Size Hero program teaches children the need for blood and the importance of giving back to our community. We hope many of you will be able to support the children’s efforts in recruitment.
If you haven’t heard from your child’s teacher regarding conferences please contact them directly. We will be using Sign Up Genius to allow parents flexibility in scheduling a time best for them. You may also schedule directly with the teacher.
Third graders finished up their testing this week. Grade four will begin on Monday, followed by grade five the following week. Thanks to all of the families who made sure their students were well rested, had a good breakfast, and were prepared for their tests!
