Hello Greendale Middle School families,
I hope everyone had a good week. This was another busy week at the middle school and ends with another home football game tonight at GHS. I want to thank all of the students, parents, and staff that attended the PRIDE Tailgate Kickoff last Friday night. We had a great turnout again this year with fantastic weather, a big Panther win, and it only took three days to get the grill smell out of my hair! Thank you for all of your support to what has been a great start to the school year. Above is a photo from the event.
Activities and athletics are in full swing. Students can sign-up for one of the fall activities being offered. Please visit the GMS website and the “Student Handouts” link for a complete list and sign-up form. Congratulations to our cross-country team, which had their first competitions this week. There are 55 students on the team!

District Annual Meeting - September 19
The Board of Education will hold the Greendale School District Annual Meeting on Monday, September 19, 2011 in the Greendale High School Auditorium. The Budget Hearing will begin at 7:00 p.m. followed by the Annual Meeting at 7:30 p.m. We hope you will join us to hear an update on the Greendale School District's achievements and plans for the future.
Annual Report Now Available
Greendale Schools released the 2010-11 Annual Report that highlights student achievement and financial information. For the report, please visit www.greendale.k12.wi.us/annualreport.
Step Up to Better Health Fun Run and Walk
Greendale's Step Up to Better Health Committee, in collaboration with the Greendale Schools, will hold the annual Fun Run & Walk on Sunday, October 16 at 10:30 a.m. Join us for this healthy community event that benefits Greendale Schools! Early Student DismissalThe first of five early student dismissal days is scheduled for next week Friday, September 23rd. Students will be dismissed at 11:03 a.m.
Parent CoffeesOur first GMS parent coffee will be held in the Principal’s Conference Room on September 21st from 9:30-10:30 a.m. These informal meetings are intended to provide you information about what is happening at the middle school, answer questions, and give you an opportunity to provide some feedback.
Study ClubThe Greendale Middle School Study Club started this week. The Study Club is open to any middle school student Monday through Wednesday from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the middle school LMC and provides students with a quiet place to work on homework and use the computer lab. No pre-registration is needed. Students simply come to the LMC and sign-in. The Study Club schedule can be found on the GMS website.
Magazine DriveThe GMS-PTO is again sponsoring an all school magazine subscription fundraiser. Students will be bringing home materials pertaining to this the week of October 3rd and a SchoolMessenger will be sent with information about how to get involved. All proceeds from this fundraiser are funneled back into our classrooms to support student programs, special activities, and for innovative instruction through our GMS-PTO.
