Greendale Junior, Star of Peter Pan, Speaks to Canterbury Students About Reaching Their Dreams
GOOD NEWS:
Clara Faile, a junior at Greendale High School, was the guest reader at Canterbury on Tuesday, May 21, as part of the year long theme of “Oh the Places You'll Go...When you read!” Clara was a former student at Canterbury and recently played Peter Pan in the high school spring musical. Clara spoke with the students about her dreams of being an actress and how she never let her struggles with Tourette Syndrome stand in her way of reaching those dreams. She read the story “Amazing Grace”, which is about a girl who also lets nothing stand in the way of her dreams. She then answered questions from the students about her acting and her goals for the future.
Canterbury Students Get More Support from FedEx SmartPost Employees
GOOD NEWS:
This past Friday, May 17, 14 employees from FedEx SmartPost visited Canterbury to work with the 4th grade students. This was the third time the FedEx employees visited this year. The adults worked with the students on writing eight different types of poems, reading books about poetry, playing multiplication bingo and learning about cause and effect. This rewarding partnership will continue in the new school year.
Canterbury Students Plant Cabbage Seeds to Donate Seedlings to High School
GOOD NEWS:
Canterbury's 3rd graders have been busy raising cabbage plants to donate to the high school gardens. After raising them and getting them ready to be transplanted, they walked their plants over to the high school. These cabbages will be used in next year's school lunches. The students got to learn all about the garden by participating in a scavenger hunt and then actually planting their own plant in the ground.
Try-It-Time Wrapped Up With a Bounce and a Bang!
GOOD NEWS:
Greendale Schools Superintendent Dr. John Tharp shared his Basketball skills with over 50 Canterbury students after school last Wednesday. Thanks to all the parent volunteers that helped out. The students scored a lot of baskets, but even more smiles. Remember, if there's anything you think you could share with the students, Try-It-Time will be looking for parents to share again next year!

We had over 180 people rollerskating and many more watching from rinkside. It was a great opportunity for children of all ages to enjoy a night of fun and friends!
