Mr. Steve Gavinski was a teacher at College Park Elementary School from 1970-1991. He was the embodiment of leadership, determination, hard work and sportsmanship. When Mr. Gavinski passed away, his wife Sue established a fund which allows one girl and one boy in the 5th grade to be honored with the “Gavinski Award” because they have demonstrated the same wonderful attributes throughout their time at College Park School. The tradition has continued since the spring of 1992.

This year, Grace Irwin and Matthew Schutte were selected as recipients of the 2008 Gavinski Award. Grace has been a student at College Park since 1st Grade and Matthew since he started in Kindergarten. Both students have been outstanding leaders in their class – they truly model the four attributes that Mr. Gavinski was known for. Congratulations to Grace and Matthew!
