Referendum Home

Greendale Schools is diligent in its spending practices and works hard to control operating expenses. As such, the total School District levy, which determines the school portion of local property taxes (mill rate), has dropped each year since the 2013-14 school year. The chart shows mill rates
(amount paid per thousand dollars of property value) for Greendale Schools over the past several years. Mill rate amounts for 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 are estimates.

*Estimated Mill Rates as of August 6, 2018.
The chart below shows the impact of the referendum on a homeowner's taxes on an annual, monthly and daily basis. Amounts are shown based on home values of $100,000, $200,000 and $300,000 based on an estimated referendum mill rate of 93 cents per thousand dollars of property value.

  • Estimated 2018 Equalized Valuation (TID-OUT) of $1,402,643,600 with annual growth of 1.00% for three years and 0.00% thereafter.
  • Inclusive of impact on state aid at the tertiary level of 9.33% (18-19 July 1 estimate) on increment debt service.
  • Impact represents the change in mill rate over the 2017-18 levy of $1.15 for debt service.  The mill rate for debt service may remain flat or decline without the referendum passing.
