Greendale Schools continues to make equity work, including cultural competence and responsive practices, a part of its core improvement work. The District is a member of the Closing the Achievement Gap Consortium and is developing multiple methods to address concerns of gaps and equity in student achievement and opportunity. These include establishing a District Equity Cohort to conduct research and consider a district-wide equity model, developing a partnership in the Equity Coaching Collaborative, and organizing School-Based Equity Teams representing all five schools. This work is ongoing.
The District is currently engaged in cultural competency work led by Dr. Alisia Moutry and Dr. Ramel Smith, who are working with Greendale staff, students, and parents. With them, the District is in the midst of carrying out a 30- and 90-day Equity Plan with focus groups underway as part of the exploratory phase. The District is fully committed to this work and the partnership with Dr. Moutry and Dr. Smith. Greendale Schools will continue to work with them and other key community stakeholders to determine and take action on the next steps to fully implement the plan.
