Third grade students at Canterbury got to experience the life of a Viking! Their latest ELA unit has students exploring Norse mythology and learning more about the history of the Vikings. As part of their learning, students participated in a quest that has them collecting resources, constructing a longship, and forging swords! ¡Hola a Todos! Canterbury students are talking up a storm in Spanish class! Kindergarteners are dressing up and playing charades about family members and their characteristics. First and second graders are eagerly chatting about their ¨Mystery Vacations,¨ and what they see, hear, and how they feel on their adventures. Third grade students are busy surveying their classmates about their favorite foods and lunches. Finally, the fourth and fifth grade students are preparing presentations in which they will become the voice of a favorite character or pet and act out their daily routine! Even on cold days, the Spanish classrooms are buzzing with energy!

GHS Educators Rising is collecting Personal Hygiene and Toiletry items for people in need in our community ,now through February 9, 2026. Donations will be delivered to local community organizations, including Greendale's own Caring Closet to help families in need. Full- and travel-side items are needed, including: Soap & Body Wash, Deodorant, Feminine Hygiene products, Lip Balm, Lotion, Shampoo, Toothbrushes and Toothpaste.
Bring your items to any Greendale school office or donate funds to the drive through Classmunity. All funds will be used to purchase hygiene items for those in need.
Canterbury's first graders have been working on persevering when something becomes difficult. They were read the book "The Magical Yet" and even made their own Magical Yets! They wrote about the things they cannot do "yet", but we will be able to do if they persevere! They also created a spinner of different strategies they can use to help them persevere.
In Reading class, students across all grade levels have been working hard and making great progress! Our younger students have been focusing on learning letter sounds and practicing writing letters and simple words. In the upper grades, students have been studying different word patterns and syllable types to strengthen their reading and spelling skills. We’ve also been setting fun goals, practicing with drills, and keeping learning fun along the way. Across all grades, students continue to work on those tricky high-frequency sight words or "heart words" that appear often in everyday reading. It’s been wonderful to see their growth and enthusiasm!
Before Winter Break, our fifth graders finished their ELA Unit on Don Quixote. They really enjoyed learning all about Don Quixote's silly adventures with Sancho Panza. Each day, they participated in a "knighting ceremony" where students got "knighted" when they showed good behavior and participated during class. They also wrote an end-of-the-unit essay on whether or not Don Quixote's good intentions justify his actions throughout the story. They had to come up with a thesis statement, and give reasons and evidence to support their thinking. They really enjoyed their learning!

We are so appreciative to all of our "Founders of Fun" and are thrilled to be able to showcase the contributions made for this playground project!
We were able to raise these funds in a remarkable nine month period! With help from our playground vendor as well as our Greendale School District grounds team, we were able to make this dream a reality by the start of this school year!
THANK YOU to everyone involved with this incredible project. We are so thrilled to hear our students play, learn, and grow on this new playground equipment!!
During our Winter Concert for grades K-5, the students did an amazing job singing songs and showcasing what they learned in Music class. We are so proud of all of them! The community celebrated the Greendale Marching Band's upcoming appearance at the Rose Parade with a special celebration on Saturday afternoon in the gym at GHS. The band performed the music from its fall field show, Snow Angel, and the selection it will perform on New Year's Day in the 5.5 mile parade in Pasadena, California. Thanks so much to EVERYONE who brought coloring books to donate to Shriner's Hospital in California, and to our entire community for its outstanding support of the fine arts in Greendale. Our students are excited to share their Panther Spirit during the parade.
Join Sources of Strength in Dine-Out Fundraiser for Cure SMA.
The GHS Sources of Strength team is hosting a week of activities related to the strength of generosity at the high school. The main event for the week is on a dine-out fundraiser for the organization Cure SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy). It will be held at Red Robin restaurant in Greenfield on Wednesday, December 17. Canterbury’s First Lego League Team, The Brainy Bunch, has been working hard to prepare to compete in all of the stages of a Lego League tournament. One task they have to accomplish is identifying a problem related to the year’s theme and coming up with an innovative solution. This year’s theme is Archeology and the team focused on keeping archeologists safer in the field. They also worked together to design, build, and code a Lego robot that can accomplish missions on this year’s game table. Great work, Panthers!
Students in 1st grade at Canterbury were able to perform a Reader's Theatre of the "Three Little Pigs" for their classmates. Students have been rehearsing for several weeks and even created a backdrop of the setting along with props and costumes. Everyone did a great job reading with fluency and expression and acting out their parts.
