The cast and crew of the high school's theatre production, Chicago, welcomed a notable GHS alumna just in time for the opening of the show this week. Hollywood actress Jane Kaczmarek (GHS '74) visited the school. Kaczmarek told the students about her path to success as a television star (Malcolm in the Middle, St. Elsewhere, Hill Street Blues) and her experiences as a Greendale student. Her humor and kindness were enjoyed by students and staff alike. Media partners from CBS58 were on hand for an interview, which will appear on the station's news next week. Tickets and information on Chicago are available on the GHS Theatre website here.

Last week, GHS Biomedical Innovations students presented the results of their recent experiments. Using posters to showcase their learning, students explained how they acquired data and statistically analyzed it to determine if groups had significant differences in results. Each group tested physical abilities and strengths of peers, comparing things like grip strength between track and tennis players, lung capacity of wind instrument players and the general population, vertical jump ability of cheerleaders and basketball players, the oxygen capacity of swimmers and wind instrument players, and other topics. Their findings were interesting and their research and analysis skills impressive! Great work, Panthers.

A group of students attended the Northwestern Mutual/Milliman Actuary Science Seminar at the NM Headquarters in Downtown Milwaukee last week. The students learned about education necessary to become an actuary and received information on internships available for this career path. They spent time finding out about the typical "Day in the Life" of an Actuary, the Actuary Exams, and the Actuarial Career Path. They also explored a case study example and finished the day with a Q&A from two top executives from NM and Milliman. #LearnGrowEngageGreendale

Greendale 4th graders visited JA BizTown, a simulation where students work together in businesses to learn how an economy and community work. They earn paychecks for their work, support the town's businesses by shopping at them, all while working together to help their community run smoothly. We are also incredibly proud of our students for the positive way they represented Greendale at BizTown. They demonstrated leadership, responsibility, and teamwork, and we received wonderful feedback about their behavior and effort. Great job, Panthers!

Over twenty Greendale High students connected with local healthcare leaders at the Second Annual Hands-On Healthcare Careers Expo on February 3. Students learned about a variety of healthcare careers and made connections with local organizations that serve the community. The hands-on event, held at Greenfield High School and hosted by the Center for Healthcare Careers of Southeast Wisconsin, welcomed more than 1,000 students from across Southeast Wisconsin. It featured over 35 interactive experiences hosted by major healthcare partners, including Ascension, Advocate Aurora Health, Froedtert Health, and Children’s Wisconsin.

The students spoke with healthcare professionals, explored real-world demonstrations, and learned about education pathways and career opportunities across a wide range of health-related fields. This annual fair helps students to understand the vital role of these healthcare organizations in meeting workforce needs and supporting community well-being.
