GREENDALE HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND TO PERFORM ROSE PARADE® PREVIEW CONCERT
The 20-time-consecutive Wisconsin state champion Greendale High School Marching Band will perform a FREE Rose Parade® Preview Concert event on Saturday, December 13, at 2:00 p.m. in gymnasium at Greendale High School, 6801 Southway, Greendale. The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. The band will perform its fall field show and the song it will play on the 5.5 mile parade route in California. This is the 200-member band’s final Wisconsin public performance in 2025 before marching in the 137th Rose Parade® in Pasadena, California, on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2026.
The public is invited to bring new coloring books to donate at the concert as part of the Greendale Marching Band's contribution to the Tournament of Roses® BandCares program. The Tournament of Roses® BandCares program offers Rose Parade marching bands the opportunity to connect with local, non-profit organizations during their visit leading up to the Rose Parade. By providing arts-related resources, while showcasing their talents, band members bring an added element of joy to Pasadena beyond their performances on New Year’s Day in the Rose Parade®. The coloring books collected in Greendale will be distributed at Shriners for Children Medical Center in Pasadena.
Complete information on the Band's Rose Parade appearance is shared on this news release.

Local author DJ Slater visited GHS recently to speak to Ms. Hussa's Flex and Creative Writing classes. Many thanks for sharing your expertise with our students!

In honor of World Kindness Day, Mrs. Korpal and Mrs. Novakovich's first grade students brought a special surprise to the College Park secretaries. The surprise was a bouquet of handmade flowers that each said something they appreciated about Mrs. Morrell and Mrs. Schwarzkopf. Gratitude expressed included:
"Thank you for your hard work."
"Thank you for helping when my belly hurts."
"Thank you for helping with my tooth."
"Thank you for helping me find my way."
Many more sentiments of appreciation were included in the bouquet. College Park's first graders were spreading kindness in a meaningful way!

For the third consecutive year, College Park fourth graders coordinated a sock drive in October. Creatively named "Socktober," these Panthers create announcements and deliver them to the school. Students set a goal to collect, count newly donated socks over the lunch hour, add them to the total, and determine the number of socks left to reach their goal. The donations are delivered to those in need through St. Ben's Community Meal Program and Capuchin Community Services, in partnership with St. Mary Parish in Hales Corners. This year, the fourth graders collected a total of 1,067 pairs of socks! To date, our students and families have donated 3,160 pairs for people in need.
Thanks to all who supported this project!

Canterbury fourth graders have completed their study of Energy in science. Their learning ended with a fantastic hands-on project: building wind turbines. This activity helped to demonstrate a key concept: how energy is captured and brought into a system. The students did a great job applying their knowledge!

A group of Greendale students attended the "Heavy Metals Tour" event at MATC to learn about several high demand fields incorporating Engineering and Metalwork. The annual event is held in partnership with the "MATC Metallica Trades Program" a collaboration with Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI). This national program, run by the band Metallica's All Within My Hands Foundation, provides funding to community colleges to enhance their career and technical education programs. MATC has received grants from MSI to support students in various skilled trades, including welding, HVAC, and manufacturing, with scholarships, safety gear, and other resources.
Our students took part in hands-on opportunities in a variety of trades careers during the event. The Greendale team also won the coveted Structural Engineering contest over several other schools to take the yearly prize.
